Abdulhakim Sulub
Head of Academics, East AfricaAbdulhakim has extensive experience in teaching educational development and school leadership positions in the UK, Middle East, and Africa. His most recent role was at the Abdu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge Ministry of Education where he was an Education Advisor. He is responsible for conducting a thorough assessment of Pharo Schools and making recommendations for improvement as well as providing technical support in the development of the Education programme.
Muna Ahmed Jama
Head of Education, SomalilandMuna is Head of Education for Pharo Foundation in Somaliland. She started the Education Department in Somaliland and has been working for the Foundation since 2018. She spent 11 years working in the non-profit and academic fields in North America. Muna has received her B.A in Psychology, from The University of Ottawa, and has earned her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Studies from Ryerson University.
Mesfin Astatike Ejigu
Education Programme Coordinator, EthiopiaMesfin’s work experience covers different government and non-government organisations managing rural and urban development programmes, particularly in the education and livelihood sectors. He is currently leading the education development efforts at Pharo Foundation in BGRS, Ethiopia. Mesfin’s educational background includes MA in Educational Planning & Leadership from Adama Science & Technology University (ASTU) and MA in Sociology from Indra Gandih National Open University/IGNO/. His undergraduate is in Educational Planning & Management from Addis Ababa University(AAU) and he is a Certified International Project Manager (CIPM) from American Project Management Academy.

Hiba Mohamoud, Somalia
Co-head of School, Pharo Primary School, SomalilandHiba an experienced educator, has worked with students and teachers in a variety of KG-8 settings. She has been working as the Lower Primary Head Teacher at Pharo Primary School for the last 2 years. Hiba has a B.A in Business Administration. She is passionate about teaching and considers it a privilege to be teaching these young people.
Mohamoud Ibrahim, Somalia
Co-head of School, Pharo Primary School, SomalilandMohamoud is a passionate dedicated educator that has worked in the Primary School for 8 years. For the last 2 years, Mohamoud has been leading the school as the Upper Primary Head Teacher. Mohamoud is a graduate of Sheikh Secondary School and has a B.A in Information and Communication Technology. Mohamoud’s passion is coaching fellow educators to realise their true potential.
Ilham Abdikarim Adam, Somalia
Head of School, Pharo Kindergarten School, SomalilandIlham has been in the teaching profession for serveral years. Iham has successfully led the KG as the Head Teacher for the last 5 years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Education, with a specialisation in ICT. Her goal is to create academically engaging learning experiences through an environment that fosters creativity, curiosity, and kindness.
Mohamed Osman, Somalia
Head of School, Pharo Secondary School, Sheikh, SomalilandMohamed is a pioneer in the field of education in Somaliland. He has dedicated his life to teaching and has been working as an educator for the last 50 years. Mohamed Osman Bakaal has worked in schools throughout Somalia and Somaliland, including in Mogadishu, Baidao, Buro, Laas Anood, and Sheikh. Mohamed has been working in Sheikh Secondary school for the last 15 years as a History teacher and then as a Vice-Principal. In the 2022/23 academic year he started as the new Principal of Pharo Secondary School in Sheikh.
Abdiaziz Ismail Osman
Programme Coordinator, TVET, SomalilandAbdiaziz has been leading the TVET programmes in Somaliland for the last 2 years. He has vast experience in the INGO field and in implementing TVET programmes. Abdiaziz has an educational background in Engineering and Project Planning with a B.A in Civil Engineering, Accounting and Finance and a Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management. He is very dedicated to ensuring that Somaliland produces locally trained skilled trades professionals.
Tesfaye Shewarega, Ethiopia
Head of School, Pharo School Assosa, EthiopiaTesfaye has extensive experience in teaching and leading high-level schools in both governmental and private schools. Prior to joining Pharo Primary and Secondary School, Assosa, Tesfaye was a teacher, team leader/coordinator, vice director, and school principal in more than two governments and five private schools. Tesfaye’s educational background includes an MA in Education planning and management from Dilla University, a degree in civics and ethical education from Kotebe Metropolitan University, and a Diploma in Language from Hossana College of Teachers Education.
Akif Naqvi, Ethiopia
Head of School, Pharo School Homosha, EthiopiaAkif has several years of experience in preschool, primary, secondary and college education. He is an accredited UK Ofsted/BSO School Inspector and Advisory Board member of ICEOTAS UK. Apart from England, he has worked in accredited international schools in Myanmar, Nigeria, Libya, Qatar, Ethiopia and Thailand. In addition to his teaching qualifications, Akif also has an MA in Economics and has attended training in pedagogy, leadership, STEM, Digital Marketing from Imperial College Business School London and Harvard University, Cambridge MA, USA. Having experienced many Ofsted and International inspections, Akif guided his previous school through a successful inspection process becoming the first UK Ofsted/BSO accredited school in the city. He founded the first cohort of The University of Nottingham’s teaching programme in the city, supporting hardworking African teachers to gain UK qualifications.
